Lahore - Petrol shortage and artificial fuel crisis

There has been a major fuel crisis in Lahore and its out outskirts for the
past 3 days. Majority of the petrol pumps are either closed or serving only
few hours a day. Unavailability of CNG has also added to the already worst
situation. As 90% of the CNG/Petrol pumps are closed there were big lines
(on average 40-100) of cars and bikes on the pumps which were open. Fights
were also seen between petrol pump employees and people.
Pump owners have blamed the government for the shortage of fuel and stated
that government and suppliers are not supplying fuel to them whereas CNG
shortage is just due to low pressures during winters. Fog has also effected
the transportation of fuel during the past 3 days.
Government on the other hand has confirmed that the shortage is artificial
and Petrol/CNG pump owners have been doing it just to pressurize the
government for increasing fuel prices. Petrol pump mafia has also threatened
them to go on complete strike if fuel prices are not raised sufficiently.
The point is to be noted that globally petrol prices went down which has
resulted on decrease of petrol prices partially and not to the old prices.
Similar trends can be studied in the transportation fares (they haven't been
reduced either after the reduction in fuel price). The recent happening have
resulted in major traffic disorder, people dragging their bikes and cars
without fuel and have also effected attendance in offices. Now the crises
has expanded to other cities of Punjab as well. Government needs to take
drastic steps to regularize the process and we have to keep in mind as well
that as individual we will have to do a lot to stop this Mafia who creates
artificial shortage.

Today I had a chance to study how gas/petrol pumps are turning themselves into a Mafia. After waiting for more than 45 minutes in a queue for gas finally when it was my turn and i asked for the gas tank to be filled. the guy there told me you will get only Rs 100 worth gas and i was like WTH is this. He gave an excuse that pressure is low but i argued that its always been like that in winters and fill the gas as much as possible but he said that he has orders from the owners to give no more than Rs. 100 worth of gas. (meanwhile i looked at the gauge and it was below the normal pressure but it was not that low).
Cutting the long story short i got gas worth Rs. 100 and obviously ran short of fuel within the next trip and was in for another refill the same evening. As this is happening to many people out there it automatically is playing havoc across city and a panic situation. Portraying a very bad situation. Pressurizing government and blackmailing people. Something must be done quickly to break the back bone of another Mafia which has been in action for quite sometime now

Lets see when the PM of Punjab will leave his bed and start firing officers. As far as petrol is concern there might be some problems because in Lahore and other areas many of these pumps are operated by their own people. So lets wait when this issue will be resolved
